ABOUT THE WORK
The solo explores the interplay between voluntary and involuntary movement, delving into the realms of dreams and nightmares. How do our bodies respond when the conscious mind relinquishes control? The work traces the extremes of muscle memory, exploring the boundaries of repetition and syncopation. It begins with a sense of hope—a lullaby-like tenderness—only to unravel into a darker, otherworldly terrain. Inspired by a recurring childhood nightmare, the piece envisions a surreal transformation: a once-safe space mutates into an unsettling, decayed world. Like a tennis ball, I’d dream of rolling around my parents’ bedroom, watching the room wither, its surface aging in an instant.
